Closing Event presented by ConocoPhillips

It’s what we paint not what we own...
In Yolngu everything is connected through kinship. Based on the Aboriginal moiety systems, family connections and relationships across five generations, BodymARKS is a new dance work directed by Bundjalung woman Rhoda Roberts.
Ancient and everlasting, knowledge is painted as bodymarks on the next generation, woven through time, the brush is made of human hair, the paint is ochre.
Gather with us on Mindil Beach as the sun sets on the final evening of the 2010 Darwin Festival for this immersive and all inclusive performance showcasing the ancient rituals and dance of the Dhalinybuy clan with song man Djakapurra Munyarrayan and his family. The story and knowledge is shared, the story and knowledge is passed on. The way it’s always been.
