Set in the Latin Quarter amidst a bitterly cold Parisian winter, Puccini’s masterpiece reveals the intense and delicate lives of four young bohemians: the amorous poet Rodolfo; Marcello the humble painter; our heroine Mimi, a poor seamstress; and Musetta, the flirtatious coquette.
La Boheme gushes with romance, with love found and lost and ultimately with tragedy. Puccini’s achingly beautiful melodies illustrate his endearing characters as they create a tide of emotion that sweeps audiences away.
Amongst the elite group of favourite operas of all time, La Boheme proudly takes its place, as the flame of a single candle and the flame of love struggling to remain alight.
Sung in English.
