Ngurru-milmarramiriw (Wrong Skin)

Elcho Island’s YouTube sensation, the Chooky Dancers, have transported their talents from the broken asphalt of the Galiwinku Saturday night disco, to major concert hall stages across Australia. Now, after  highly successful seasons in Adelaide and Melbourne they perform close to home before jetting to the Sydney Opera House.

Created with multi-award winning theatre director Nigel Jamieson in collaboration with Gavin Robins, Joshua Bond and the Elders of Elcho Island, The Chooky Dancers fuse traditional culture, dance, film and humour with their cacophony of daily influences.

Ngurru-milmarramiriw (Wrong Skin) is Romeo and Juliet on Elcho Island – a modern-day story of  forbidden love in a community where the complex laws of 'skin' define relationships.
In memory of Frank.
