Alana Valentine, writer of Darwin Festival produced work Head Full of Love, has been shortlisted for the Griffin Award. She is one of ten finalists vying for the $10,000 prize offered for an outstanding new Australian play or performance text.
Now in its 13th year, the annual Griffin Award celebrates the bright future of Australian drama. More than 150 nominations were received in 2009.
The winner will be announced at the SBW Stables Theatre on 17 August.

During the Festival there will also be a playreading of Watermark, a commissioned work by Alana Valentine. Centred around the devastating 1998 Australia Day Katherine floods, Watermark illuminates the humanity, healing, strength and confronting issues faced by a community in the face of natural disaster.
