COVID-19 & You
Our top priority has, and always will be, to ensure the health and safety of everyone attending Darwin Festival. We’ve worked tirelessly with the Department of Health to ensure DF20 Homegrown is a celebration that fits into this different world we live in and have an approved COVID-19 Safety Plan.
What You Can Do
Being COVID safe is everyone’s responsibility. Most importantly – stay at home if you’re feeling unwell. Before you do head out to the Festival you need to register your contact details with us. You’ll receive an SMS, which you’ll need to show at the main entrance to Festival Park. This is a requirement of entry this year.
Enjoying DF20 means following COVID-safe practices at Festival events.
We strongly encourage you to follow these basic principles:
- Wash and sanitise your hands as often as possible.
- Keep a 1.5 metre distance where you can.
- Download and use the COVIDSafe App on your Apple or Android
If we all do that, then we can all have fun!
Keeping Our Venues Safe
Darwin Festival has rigorous procedures in place to ensure your safety, including enough space to enable physical distancing in and out of venues, mobile sanitising stations, increased and thorough cleaning schedules and new operational guidelines for food and beverage service. We have made specific considerations in our site design to accommodate physical distancing and hygiene and there will be wellbeing officers onsite to encourage staff and patrons to follow the basic principles.
To help with physical distancing at the Festival, there will be limited capacity across our venues. At indoor venues, such as Darwin Entertainment Centre or Brown’s Mart Theatre, seating will be allocated and you will be seated with the people you have booked your tickets with.
Capacity is reduced at Festival Park. Entry is guaranteed for those patrons who buy a ticket to a Sunset Stage show for that night. So we encourage you to book early to secure your night of fun. We’re also asking you to BYO picnic rug or cushion so you can spread and enjoy the food, drink and free entertainment on offer at our Festival hub.
If you have bought a ticket to a Festival event, please read the event reminder emailed to you prior to the show – it has more details about our venues and COVID responsibilities.
We need everyone to do their bit to keep us all safe. So we ask you to keep an eye and an ear out for COVID-19 signage and messaging and to follow the directions of Festival staff.
If you buy a ticket to a Festival event but cannot attend, we regret to advise that you will not be entitled to a refund or exchange. The Festival’s COVID-19 refund conditions are guided by Live Performance Australia, which states that events do not need to provide a refund or exchange if a ticket holder does not wish to attend an event due to fears of exposure to COVID-19; or if a ticket holder is unwell and does not attend an event (in line with government recommendations).
