Presented by Darwin Symphony Orchestra in association with Darwin Festival
It’s a milestone year for our very own Symphony Orchestra and you’re invited to join the 30th anniversary celebrations.
A program of three very different compositions feature in this musical night to remember including Sibelius’ rousing Finlandia. Celebrated Australian composer Lachlan Skipworth will premiere a new work commissioned especially for the 30th anniversary. Designed to reflect the spirit of the Territory, this piece features guest Indigenous soloist Don Wurralkbanganya Murrungun.
Then hear the full force of the orchestra in Mahler’s incredible first symphony, ‘The Titan’. A work of great scale and ambition, its sweeping grandeur is sure to capture the hearts and imagination of audiences and the musicians in equal measure. This Festival event closes with a triumphant finale to herald the orchestra’s exciting next chapter.
