GIF of Dance is a daily, global, simultaneous, world premiere of a new dance work, sent via SMS to your mobile phone number.
Choreographer Matt Cornell with dancer Kelly Beneforti and local guests make (very) short dances and turn them into animated GIFs. Each performance is shot on location around Darwin and performed through your mobile phone screen, wherever you are in the world, on the same day it is made.
One dance premiered each day of Darwin Festival (except Mon 10 Aug).
Integrating contemporary dance into every day life, while at the same time providing a portal out of it in a way that only great art can, GIF of Dance is a hyper-distributed, non-geographically exclusive, time-shiftable, live performance of dance and choreography. We want dance to go, without friction, to the people who want it.
