Cambodian folk-rock band Kampot Playboys are known for their lively performances and unique fusion sound. Bringing together eastern and western music for an energetic and very danceable show, the Playboys blend rock, groove and psychedelia with Khmer vocals and the traditional textures of the tro sau toch, a Khmer bowed instrument.
The band was formed in 2011 by Uk Sochiet and Mark Chattaway and is made up of five members from three different countries – Cambodia, UK and Australia. This mixture of different cultures and musical tastes, along with the group’s combination of traditional folk and modern rock instruments, gives the Kampot Playboys a distinctive sound. With a dance-orientated rhythm section lead by singer Chiet’s strong rock vocals, this is music that guarantees a good time – and hints that anything could happen!
Supported by the grungy rock pop of the Epicphannys, with topical songs about life in the Territory.
