The Northern Territory Performing Arts Awards (NTPAAs) celebrate the outstanding talent, creativity and achievements of the Territory’s vibrant performing arts community.
Each year, these prestigious awards honour the performers, producers, directors and educators whose work shapes the Territory’s cultural identity — sharing powerful stories, strengthening connections and enriching our communities.

Nominations for the NTPAAs are now open, and will close on Monday 6 July.
Award Categories
Production of the Year:
Celebrate an outstanding Northern Territory production recognised by its originality, quality, and its audience reception.
Performer of the Year:
Recognise a performing artist who has made a significant impact in a Northern Territory production.
Young Achiever:
Encourage a young artist between 18 to 25 years of age who has made a significant contribution to the performing arts in the Northern Territory.
Behind the Scenes – Creative:
Appreciate the creative talent of choreographers, designers, directors, producers and writers, who form the backbone of outstanding Northern Territory productions.
Behind the Scenes – Production:
Support excellent work behind the scenes by technicians, stage managers and project co-ordinators to produce outstanding Northern Territory performances.
Inspiring Educator:
Congratulate an inspirational performing arts educator teaching any genre of performing arts.
Impact Award:
Appreciate the work by an individual or organisation which has profiled Northern Territory performing arts on a national and/or international stage.
Ultimate Legend Award:
Acknowledge an established arts practitioner who has made a significant, long-term contribution to the Northern Territory performing arts sector.
Ted Egan Regional Award:
Recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to the performing arts in regional and remote communities across the Northern Territory (outside of the Greater Darwin region).
Eligibility
- For all categories, artists can either nominate themselves/their shows or be nominated by others.
- NT residents are eligible to nominate themselves, non-NT residents can only nominate NT residents.
- Nominees must be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status, reside in the NT and meet all eligibility criteria.
- Nominees can apply for multiple categories.
- Organisations nominated must:
- be not-for-profit
- be legally constituted
- produce art or primarily operate in support of the arts
- have their main place of business registered in the NT

Who can nominate?
Anyone can nominate anyone else, as long as they fit the eligibility criteria and the nominee has given their permission. Artists can also nominate themselves.
What if I don’t have any supporting documentation for my nomination?
What if I don’t have any supporting documentation for my nomination?
It’s not compulsory to submit supporting documentation, but it assists the judges when they are assessing the nominations.

No, you will need to complete your nomination in one go or you will lose your progress, we recommend looking over the questions and having all the supporting documents including images, videos etc ready for uploading prior to completing the form online. You can view a copy of the questions here.

Finalists will be notified in late July. The list of finalists will be displayed on this webpage.

The NTPAA Ceremony will take place on 10 Aug at the INPEX Sunset Stage at Festival Park (Civic Park, Smith St, Darwin City), from 6-9pm. Tickets will be provided to nominees free of charge. Supporters and general public can purchase tickets here.
Is travel support offered to finalists who live outside of the Top End?
Yes, travel support will be available to finalists outside of Greater Darwin region.

Where is the awards night being held?
The NTPAA Ceremony is being held on the 10th of August at the INPEX Sunset Stage in Festival Park, Smith St, Darwin City, and will run from 6-9pm.
What is the dress code for the Awards Ceremony?
Territory Rig: Trousers, long-sleeved shirt and tie. Skirt and blouse. Day dress or after five dress.
What does my ticket include?
What does my ticket include?
Each ticket holder receives a drink on arrival, a drink ticket to use during the evening, substantial canapes and premiere entertainment from some of the NT’s finest performing artists plus some special Festival guests.
