Southern River Band
Supported by Mertas
A night of proper rock ‘n’ roll from Perth four-piece Southern River Band.
It’s been a big few years for Southern River Band – charting at Number 3 with their release 'Easier Said Than Done', selling out an Australian tour, playing major European festivals such as Download and Hellfest, selling out a follow up European tour and then supporting AC/DC. So it’s high time the Perth four-piece, proclaimed by The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins as “a proper f@%king rock band”, played a show in Darwin.
Beneath the lyrical humour, frontman Cal Kramer’s Herculean mullet and the sweat-fuelled good-time antics of the band’s unreal live show is a group of four individuals – Cal is joined by bassist Pat Smith, guitarist Dan Carroll and drummer Tyler Michie – who take what they do very seriously. You’ve just got to see for yourself.
Support on the night comes from Arnhem Land’s alternative surf-punk band Mertas. Known for their live energetic attitude and heavy surf punk-infused sound, Mertas mix the rough community environment with the beautiful ocean surroundings for music that is all their own.
