Arts Access for Every Student
On Thursday 23 October, Darwin Festival is proud to take part in AusArt Day, the national Giving Day for the Arts, to raise funds for our transformative Schools Program.
Each year, we invite Northern Territory students to experience the magic of live performance, often for the very first time. From storytelling and movement to music and visual theatre, these world-class performances ignite imagination, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of the arts.
Our goal this AusArt Day is to raise $2,000 to ensure that every student, regardless of location or circumstance, can access these enriching experiences.
“Experiencing the Darwin Festival through the schools’ live performances and workshops was a first-time opportunity for many of our students. They were inspired, amazed, challenged, enraptured, and fulfilled. Darwin Festival School program is an invaluable, enriching highlight of our dance program at Nightcliff Middle School and without it, many students would never access live arts performances.”
— Lisa, Teacher Nightcliff Middle School
Darwin Festival Schools Program is more than just a ticket to a show. It is a gateway to creativity, connection, and cultural understanding. Students also have the chance to participate in artist-led workshops, deepening their engagement and sparking new ideas.
“For many students, this was their first encounter with a Dreamtime tale brought to life. The experience planted seeds of curiosity and empathy that will grow far beyond the festival.”
— Kristy, Principal Woodroffe Primary School
