Djapu writer, poet and performer Melanie Mununggurr joins Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti singer, song writer and performer Juran Timu-Adams for a series of poetry and stories inspired by Yolŋu and Māori cultures.
Interweaving spoken word, song and music, Manifesto of Saltwater Women is a collaboration influenced by the power and beauty of two First Nations connected through salt water and the journey of womanhood. Melanie and Juran traverse space, time and language to bring you a glimpse into what it means to be a woman of the sea.
Accompanied by James Mangohig, Evan Saunders and Jordan Petit Thierry, all saltwater men in their own right, the soundtrack to this powerful and beautiful collaboration lifts the sisters up through music, ambience and love.
