New music performed in the idyllic George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens at sunset

A stunning new program of contemporary chamber music which asks us to find new ways to see and hear the places we call home. Home features music by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw and original work by Whistling Kite New Music members Nick Yates and Netanela Mizrahi.

Since its debut performances at Darwin Festival 2020, Whistling Kite New Music (WKNM) has established itself as a leading chamber music group in the NT, and has a unique identity as the only ensemble in the NT with a focus on contemporary art music. WKNM has presented dozens of NT first performances, as well several world premieres of new works. Recent collaborations include with Senior Larrakia Elder Aunty Bilawara Lee, Georgina Lewis (piano, Vic) and NT composer Cathy Applegate.
