RPM vs Bad Apples

Northern Territory / Australia / Canada

World Premiere

Darwin Festival is bringing together hip-hop crews from two trail-blazing Indigenous-owned music labels – RPM (Canada) and Bad Apples (Australia) – for one epic night of mad rhymes, thick beats and searing First Nations politics.

Bad Apples label mates Birdz and Nooky have been making waves in Australia for their unique rapping styles and huge live shows. Hailing from Katherine, Birdz brings true Territory heart to his razor-sharp poetry. Nooky gives fresh voice and power to urban Indigenous youth.

RPM’s Snotty Nose Rez Kids are a hip-hop duo from the Haisla Nation representing for Canada/Turtle Island with wicked humour and unrepentant observations of contemporary life from the reservation to the big smoke. Vancouver-based Dene/Cree DJ Kookum (Cold Lake First Nations and Alexis Dakota Sioux Nation) brings the kind of bass that makes your booty shake.

After a week together in the studio, these fresh crews will be raring to rock The Lighthouse.
