Makan Club celebrates the vibrant diversity of the Northern Territory, bringing people together through food, art and community
Makan [verb] to eat. A Malay word, makan was introduced to the NT through centuries of trade between Makassan seafarers and Indigenous coastal communities. Today, it’s woven into many Indigenous languages and Top End lingo more broadly, reflecting the rich history of cultural exchange.
Makan Club is a ticketed dining experience featuring a thoughtfully curated four-course menu that draws inspiration from the rich food traditions of the NT’s diverse communities. Alongside the meal, Indigenous artwork and storytelling unfold to reflect the interconnectedness of culture and Country. More than a dinner, Makan Club is a rich, multisensory experience shaped by the cultural connections that influence how we eat and gather.
