Don’t miss the NT premiere of two incredible works by celebrated Australian composers Brett Dean and Rebecca Erin Smith in this dramatic orchestral encounter with love, death, desire and destiny.
Dean’s mysterious and dramatic Siduri Dances features DSO’s own Principal Flute Tania Watts as soloist, performing in a work of incredible virtuosity. Smith’s Foreigner and Foreigner is an expansive work exploring how it feels to be suspended between two places of belonging.
Beginning the evening is the stunning overture to Tristan and Isolde, a dramatic glimpse into the tale of the doomed lovers.
Copland’s triumphant and beautiful Appalachian Spring completes this beautiful program with a message of hope and prosperity.
