Presented by Salon Art Projects in collaboration with Warlayirti Artists
Patsy Mudgedell returns to Darwin Festival with more of her richly textured paintings that redefine contemporary Aboriginal art.
“Each artwork is a journey of discovery. My identity exists across cultural spaces and my art tries to integrate that. Being part of a family, a tribe and a community but also being my own autonomous self with unique experiences. The art allows me to explore this self-discovery: who am I, where do I fit in? These are questions I have asked all my life. When I was younger, I tried hard to fit in, and it was exhausting. I gradually let that go. As I got older, I realised I do not need to be what anyone else tries to define me as. My artwork is part of that journey.” Patsy Mudgedell 2021
