Bring your darrandirra (family), hear the sounds of Larrakia language and sing along with the choir

Composed in 2025 by Dr Aunty Bilawara Lee and Netanela Mizrahi, Dalba Gulwa features songs written for our children, and children everywhere, to hear and learn the sounds of Larrakia language. Join Whistling Kite New Music and the choir singing like the Bilawara galuma-gag, gay danggal (red-tailed black cockatoo flies, calling out with its strong voice) action songs about family and flight and important messages for children and all to tread softly when visiting this sacred, Larrakia country.

Aunty Bilawara is a proud Larrakia woman and Senior Elder who works tirelessly in her community to continue Larrakia people’s connection to Country, culture and Ancestors through education, language, spirituality and healing. She brings her Traditional Knowledge, custodial authority and consent for leading the rich cultural content of these works for children and families to grow respect for the language and culture of the Larrakia people. When visiting this land, Aunty Bilawara invites your family to listen deeply to the sounds and language of this place, to listen to the advice of Traditional Owners for caring for unceded Larrakia country and one another in ways that create balance and harmony on this country and between us all. This performance includes the premiere of the complete cycle of Dalba Gulwa.
