“We carry all the history on a song, like a map.” Nancy McDinny.
Manankurra (Manangoora) is in the southwest Gulf country of the Northern Territory, 60 kilometres from Borroloola. It is a place of historical and cultural significance for the artists.
This exhibition invites you to join in a celebration and love of Country with local artists Isa McDinny, Stewart Hoosan, Nancy McDinny, Selma Hoosan and Julian Brown. The story of place, identity, struggle, celebration and endurance are the inspiration for each artist. The marine environment, the salt pans, the beaches, the birds, the history all call out, they begin and unfold in each painting.
You’re invited to discover the songs and inspiration behind the landscape these artists share.
