We open our contemporary music program at the INPEX Sunset Stage with Woorabinda singer-songwriter Miiesha. Inspired by the sounds of RnB, gospel and soul, this incredible artist is a proud Pitjantjatjara/Torres Strait Islander with a message equally as powerful and soulful as her voice.
There’s been a buzz surrounding this rising soul star since her first single ‘Black Privilege’ and it’s only been growing after she dropped her debut album last year. Described by triple j as a release ‘every Australian should hear’, Nyaaringu is a poetic and profound collection of stunning songs that will take flight when sung live by the velvety voice of their creator.
Having supported the likes of Baker Boy, Briggs, Adrian Eagle and Thelma Plum, Miiesha is using her voice and her message to bring her community to the world. Gifted with a voice that showcases vulnerability and strength, often in the one breath, she sings of her people and her community with the words of a leader and a teacher.
Settle in under the stars for warm grooves, vibrant soul funk and an evening of meaningful music with this wonderfully talented performer.
