Darwin Festival the Territory’s Best Major Festival & Event

The NT tourism industry’s night of nights, the Brolga Awards, was held in Alice Springs on Saturday 12 November and Darwin Festival 2021 was awarded Best Major Festival & Event. The Festival was recognised as Australia’s hottest winter arts festival, combining the quintessential spirit and energy of the Larrakia country with warm outdoor festivities and a vibrant program of events for an unforgettably good time.

Darwin Festival CEO, James Gough, said he and the team were thrilled with the win, especially in the face of such a tumultuous time. “As festivals and events around the world were cancelled for a second year running in 2021, Darwin Festival persevered. It was certainly a roller coaster ride, but with luck and lots of hard work we delivered 14 (of 18) hot August nights of art and celebration”, he said.

“With 2021 and another hugely successful 2022 Festival behind us, we’re already planning for more amazing adventures in August 2023 with our new Artistic Director Kate Fell at the helm”, he continued. “We’re so excited about what’s coming up and can’t wait to share it all with the people of Darwin and those heading north for some Dry Season good times”.

Darwin Festival 2023 runs 10 – 27 August.
